"The late Ronnie Smith of Big Cabin Oklahoma first introduced me to Field Trials.  My first field trial placements came in the National Birdhunters Assoc. where I was a founding director of the organization for many years.  In 1982 I was introduced to the Horseback Trials which I have called my home, running in open and amateur stakes.  During that time as a breeder, we bred and developed several dogs that won in Championship competition.  As an amateur / Pro trainer and handler we have amassed over one thousand field trial placements, nine dog of the year awards, including the Prestigious Joe Hurdle award, and winning championships at the 2003 Quail Championship invitational, Continental Derby Championship RU Champion, American Derby invitational Championship, All-American Derby Championships and several open all-age stakes.  It is our goal to make this list grow."
Tony with dogs
Tony Falley - Professional Bird Dog Trainer

Tony heads up our Gun Dog program and services at Crosscountry Kennels.  Tony is a great asset to our whole kennel program.  His ability with a young dog is unmatched by many.  His training method of repetition and positive reinforcement has overlaid well into our training program.

"As a young man I grew up hunting quail in the fields of Northeast Oklahoma. My dad and I took annual hunt trips, hunting upland game (pheasants) in Western Oklahoma and Southeast Kansas.  I also hunted water fowl on the shores of Grand Lake and area ponds."

"My passion for competitive bird dogs came when I spent the night with my best friend and his dad brought home a young puppy out of Pork Roll.  I fell in love with this pup as he pointed a wing on the end of a fishing pole.  After completing high school I soon purchased a German Shorthair field trial pup and joined the Ozark German Shorthair club.  My love for the sport of field trialing and training dogs became a strong passion in my life and I have never been without a bird dog."

Crosscountry Kennels Puppy "In 2003, I became acquainted with Randy Anderson through a mutual field trialing friend.  Randy and I became good friends, as we both had a common vision for the direction of our field trialing careers.  I became his assistant and traveled with him, as well as Joe Bush, to North Dakota to train dogs for the summer.  That fall I scouted for Randy on the Major All-Age Circuit and learned about competing as a professional trainer.  In the 2004-2006 seasons, I was fortunate to compete as a handler on the Major Horseback Shooting Dog Circuit.  I enjoyed success competing in trials from Arizona to Kentucky and from Texas to South Dakota.   Currently (summer ’06), I have been training with Randy at Crosscountry Kennels in Vinita, Oklahoma.  This fall I will continue to train dogs for our gundog/field trial development division, as well as continuing to train retrievers that I will be handling at HRC and AKC Hunt Tests.  Recently, I have already had some Hunt Test success, passing dogs at local trials and I look forward to continuing in my new found passion of training retrievers.  Overall, it boils down to the fact that I love training dogs and have a strong desire to develop successful dogs whether they’re going to be your “hunting partner” or a “field trial competitor.”
